Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek
God created the all-natural (well, okay, so she’s had a nose-job) Latin Goddess Salma Hayek on September 2 1966 in the city of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. She is half-Spanish, half Lebanese. “I thought I was a princess, I lived in a castle and my father was a king; I wore tiaras; I was born diva-ish.”

After taking a year to learn English and to study acting Salma got her first break in 1993 when director Allison Anders cast her in a supporting role in Mi Vida Loca. Robert Rodriguez caught sight of her, tracked her down and promptly cast her in Desperado, his big-budget 1995 remake-cum-sequel to El Mariachi. Rodriguez again demonstrated his faith in her when he cast her as the voluptuous vampire Santanico Pandemonium in his comedy-horror extravaganza From Dusk Till Dawn. Her appearance has become a cult classic movie performance.

"If I go on a diet and work out, I'm always in a bad mood. I'd rather be a little heavier but nice," confesses Salma. And don’t we just love her for it.

Salma has had an undulating film career, but she’s managed to stay afloat in the cut-throat celebrity field by frequently appearing throughout the fashion world in numerous magazine spreads. She has that rare figure that is both curvaceous, yet is never considered overweight. And in Hollywood overweight can be only a matter of a few pounds!

Salma Hayek’s inner and outer beauty is like a cross between Sophia Loren and Raquel Welch, the glorious hour-glass figure and gorgeous Latin looks with the piercing sultry all-woman bravura, no-bullshit attitude.

“In my world, you have to be so beautiful, so skinny, so rich, so famous and I don't believe you really have to be any of those things. You simply have to be who you are. I do have thighs and a butt. I have cellulite. Don't be too impressed with me. Don't try to dress like me or wear your hair like mine. Find your own style. Don't spend your savings trying to be someone else ..."

Here she is then, the one and only Latina bombshell herself:

I feel like a Campari and soda! Mmmm, there's a real sense of character that emerges from Salma's beauty. She is quite the chameleon. Where do I start? So many favourite images in this selection. In the black negligee on the bed, leaning on the fire hydrant, in fishnet stockings and a blue skirt, and as that bandito babe, hubba hubba, what a derriere!!
