... my favourite things
July 22nd 2008 04:30
It was my Orble first birthday last month and I plumb forgot to celebrate! How absent-minded of me indeed! It happens a lot in this ridiculously fast-moving society we live in; important events pass us by simply because we’re too caught up in the unnecessary stress of the day-to-day grind.
So I thought I’d indulge in a little belated Orble birthday present to myself (since no one else is likely to come to the party!), and compile a list of some of my favourite things. Of course, it’s hard limiting a birthday wish list just to twenty-four “items”, so I’ve taken the liberty of breaking my own Rule of 24. I’ve made a list of twenty-five. Ha-hah!
I’m surprised I’ve lasted a year with Orble, being the frisky, impulsive creature that I am. But Señor Duke is still cranking out posts, albeit irregularly and far less frequently than when I started just over a year ago. I’m hanging in there, and having pushed the Orble boundaries a few times it feels gratifying that I haven’t had a tight leash put on me.
Freedom of artistic expression is part of my blog’s manifesto (and indulging in all things sexy as often as possible). But ultimately it’s been about selecting the most visually alluring and aesthetically pleasing images I can find under the given theme. Of course this is all subjective; they are images that I find attractive, not always what others might find appealing. But blogs are meant to be about personal opinion, isn’t that the whole point?
Here amidst my so-called editorial you can see images that time and time again I come back to. These are pictures of my pleasure, and if I were to combine them into a fantasy scenario I’d construct them as such: reclining on a sun-chair on the balcony of my Santorini villa in the warm morning sunshine, enjoying a strong, smooth espresso, with two crystal flutes and a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket beside me, my amethyst-encrusted headphones on, listening to deep, jazzy house music, while nearby my Mediterranean lover in her slinky teddy plays with our pet polar bear, occasionally flashing me her sensual smiles …
Yes, well, as Julie Andrews once sang; these are just a few of my favourite things. I'm not about to single out any, because that would be creating favourites among favourites, and I simply can't be that judicious. These are my simple pleasures, my luxury toys, my hedonistic pursuits, the beautiful creatures that are as gorgeous as they are gratifying. Happy belated birthday to me!

Funny little mix of favourite things you have there - some seem very you. Couldn't stop laughing at the jewel encrusted headphones.

yes, well, I'm a funny kind of guy.
The headphones were designed by a DJ called Donna D'Cruz. They cost around $4000 I believe. Purple is a favourite colour of mine, so they had double appeal.
