Johnny Depp

He’s one of my favourite actors, and also a damn fine-looking fellow too. Not a bad singer, and doesn’t look too shabby with mascara and false eyelashes on either. Johnny Depp is arguably one of the two or three finest actors of his generation, for me up there with Sean Penn and Christian Bale, who also happen to be attractive men who work hard at being compelling chameleons on the big screen.
And that’s what makes Johnny Depp so damn interesting. He doesn’t follow convention, often appearing in arthouse films or movies with a subversive or provocative edge. I remember about ten years ago reading how a film lecturer in the States was running a university course on The Films of Keanu Reeves. I was like, what the fuck?! Keanu Reeves can’t act his way out of a paper bag. He's good-looking in a very bland kind of way, but his film choices leave a lot to be desired (River’s Edge, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and the first Matrix movie are the only ones where I’ve enjoyed watching him).
The Films of Johnny Depp would make in infinitely more interesting course in film analysis, as his filmography is a fascinating selection featuring some of the best directors in the business. But I’m not here to discuss Depp’s career as an actor. I’m here to showcase just how damn stylish and aesthetic he looks (even if he is covered in scars with scissors for hands). Damn, I’d shag him if I was that way inclined and met him at the right kind of party.
If I had to list five movies where he shines in all his charismatic, eccentric glory, they’d be these; as Ed Wood in Ed Wood, as William Blake in Dead Man, as Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, as Lt. Victor and Bon Bon in Before Night Falls, as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, and as Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
"I don't pretend to be captain weird. I just do what I do."
Johnny Depp was born John Christopher Depp III in Kentucky, U.S. on June 9, 1963, which makes him a very distinguished and ruggedly handsome 44-year-old. His ex-fiancés have been Sherilyn Fenn, Jennifer Grey, and Winona Ryder (when he got the infamous Winona Forever tattooed on his arm, then after they split up had it laser-shortened to Wino Forever). He was married to Lori Anne Allison (1983-1985) and is currently married to Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children.
Some great pics here, the man simply can't look bad, even when he looks dishevelled! Now that's raw art for you! So, what are my favourite pics here? Top three would be Johnny as queen Bon Bon, Johnny in the fedora, and Johnny with the bass guitar. Although I do love the those three black and whites in a row, Johnny looks great in monochrome! Oh, I do love Johnny so.

Yes, Willy Wonka and Jack Sparrow are caricatures, but wasn't that the point? And doesn't he do them well?

There is not one kooky costume that can turn me off him, not even The Libertine or Willy Wonka.
And, as you say, a positively aweinspiring actor to boot!

He was fantastic in The Libertine. But then I have never seen him in anything where he is less than brilliant.
